Hermon Expresses Shock at Bangor Murder

July 1st, 2008

North Down’s MP, Lady Hermon, has voiced her shock at news of the brutal murder of her 68-year-old constituent and guesthouse owner, William Spence.

“I’m profoundly shocked by news of the dreadful attack on an entirely innocent man.  While details are still hazy at this early stage of the police investigation into this murder, I understand that Mr Spence met with a very violent end.

His death in such appalling circumstances must bring with it an exceptional sense of shock, heartache and pain for his family and all who knew him.  I extend to them my deepest sympathy at what is inevitably an extremely distressing time.

Having spoken to the police, I would hope his murderer will face justice sooner rather than later.”
